The City of Rockville sought to honor the dramatic contributions to scientific research by its residents and local industry. Montgomery County has a strong base of biotechnology companies and is the home of the National Institute of Health, the heart of this nation’s medical research industry. Montgomery County has also embraced the Arts and encourages developers to work with artists in many of the new construction projects in the County. The artist worked developed the DNA concept within the guidelines of the original competition. This highly regarded project was featured on the cover of the National Library Journal for its Year in Review issue.
